Age is the Issue

Wed May 07, 2008 at 01:25:19 PM PDT

Granny Doc posted a great diary this morning about McCain and what appears to be his first strategy for the GE.  It boils down to "Hey you kids need to get off my lawn" approach.  His team has correctly analyzed the demographic that he is going to further exploit.  And "my friends" it is going to be to try and further the divide between what has happened in our party.  The age gap.

Primary Wars - Tonight, take a break from your battles, to remember the real war.

I don't post many diaries, I usually don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said a thousand different ways.  I support Barack Obama and I'm a little more than disgusted with the Clinton campaign, but tonight I don't really care who wins this damn campaign.  I just got off the phone with my best friend, who called me in tears, because today she just found out her son is going back to Iraq, for the 3rd time.

This is an extremely good idea, not only for the campaign but, for the environment.  Don't just throw away your yard signs and rally signs.  Send them to one of the states with upcoming primaries or caucuses.

The First Woman President

Sun Dec 16, 2007 at 06:28:15 PM PDT

I was born in 1960, so I’m barely a boomer.  I can remember watching my parents cry when Jack and Bobby and MLK were assassinated.  I remember the Women’s Movement and being just astonished that the Equal Right’s Amendment couldn’t be ratified.  I remember watching the Watergate hearing’s with my Dad, and how that sparked my interest even more about politics and the Constitution and more importantly a woman named Barbara Jordan.

My faith in the Constitution is whole, it is complete, it is total. I am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction of the Constitution.

We could use her even today, couldn't we?

I was raised to believe "There is nobody any better than you, but always remember that you are no better than anyone else."  (My Dad’s favorite quote)  So even though I was a girl that was raised in a little town, in the middle of Kansas, I believed that not only were all doors open for me, it would only be a matter of time before I would see The First Woman President, and I really hoped that woman would be Barbara Jordan.

Only 43 Days Left to Shop for Christmas!

Mon Nov 12, 2007 at 09:17:59 AM PDT

While driving to work this morning I couldn't help but notice all the holiday decorations already in place.  I'm not ready for Christmas this year.  I've lost the desire to participate in all the consumerism that goes along with the season.  I love Christmas, don't get me wrong.  When I get out my decorations every year it is a magical time.  Old decorations from my childhood, those funny reindeer clothespins the kids made in grade school, the ornaments I've collected from vacation's, it is always a time filled with nostalgia and joy.

But, this year I want to do something different for Christmas.....This year I want to keep it simple and meaningful let's share some ideas....
